Predrag Vujanovic's "A-chapel" is a conceptual religious building/structure set in plains of Vojvodina, northern Serbia. Though it is called a chapel, it does not center on a specific religion. It serves as a beacon of light, a gathering point and place for meditation. It strongly defies and interrupts the horizontality of the plain. The structure is consists of two entities. One is the ramp made out of cor-ten sheets and the other is the roof made with steel sheets, both entities are reinforced with a steel sub-structure.

The more I was looking and getting myself interested in art I felt that I could find inspiration and transfer it to architecture. For this project I was inspired by works of Richard Serra. Artist who's installations spatially and through use of steel are so easy to mix up with real architecture.

It's still kinda hard for me to pinpoint my exact style, but roughly, I think I find minimalism best suited for me. Besides artists like Richard Serra and Damian Ortega, my inspirations are architects like Alejandro Aravena and Hiroshi Nakamura.

I'm not that much experienced to give out advice. But based on my decision and will to move to a new country and start my career and life from scratch, I would say that you should constantly test and force yourself to learn and to adjust to something completely unfamiliar. That is what architecture and engineering is all about.

About Predrag Vujanovic

Predrag Vujanovic is a 28-year-old architect. He was born and raised in Bosnia and Herzegovina. After high school he moved to Novi Sad, a city in neighboring Serbia and started his education as an architect. After he graduated, he started working in a company for interior design and manufacturing, also in Serbia. After a successful two and half years at that company, he decided it was time for him to challenge himself even more and broaden his perspective.
