AHU is a storytelling, copywriting agency from Istanbul Turkey that creates media for social impact. AHU, work with an array of public and private-sector companies, nonprofit and intergovernmental organizations to design objective-driven stories that come to life through branding, video and digital media.
When we get the brief for the new branding progress we got some elements from them wich they really would like to see on the logo as icon. One of them was a pencil. So that gave us the clear decision to use it. Should look solid like the classic big advertising agency’s do or can we go one step forward and gave that solid look a touch creativity.
So first we start creating with sketches on paper, after we found the idea inside the logo we start to refine and finalize them all on Ilustrator but thats just a normal progress what maybe different and interesting is, it’s how we test our design before we present it.
The Client is not the first person who saw the designs! We always test the logo on a small number of persons, like housewife’s police officers, students etc. After we we exactly know what we did wrong or good we can present it easily with our public survey to the client.
Mostly when we found an creative idea inside the logotype, logo ect. i’ts easy to sell the design to the client. People react like “ok its not just a type it’s has something fresh inside it. it’s creative” so they want it as fast as they can!
As long it helps the brand i always try to use an simple idea inside the branding. sometimes we don’t because it would not help the brand growing up. The clear vision of the client is also importent! A client who really thinks he know a lot and don’t respect your abilities would damage the branding progress.
so our client loves the idea behind the hidden pencil wich we think perfectly fits to the brand!
