Amoreira by Lars Focke
Praia da Amoreira or "Amoreira" is a natural and as yet unspoilt sandy beach about 7kms from the little town of Aljezur in the Western Algarve. It’s popular with surfers, fishermen and those who just want to escape from the rat race of mass tourism and concrete highrise. Photographer Lars Focke have always wanted to do something with reflections on the water and give stones and rocks a look like they are floating space. On a very sunny day he took a trip to a beach where you can find such rocks very close to your camera and it worked out really well. So, let's see what he came up with.
I try to avoid too much post production and I only edited some color grading cropped the images to focus on the individual rocks in the water. A little project. Nothing very special. ;-)

I used an old Canon 5d Mark II with a 70-200mm 4.0 L lense which is some kind of expensive equipment. One important advice which I can give is not to concentrate on the equipment and lose yourself in technical features and comparisons between different cameras and lenses. The best camera is the camera with you! I doesn't matter how expensive you gear is. Just practice as often as you can and keep in mind that photography is a steady learning progress which probably will never end. Enjoy it and keep shooting!

About Lars Focke
Lars Focke is a freelance photographer and designer from Hamburg. Deeply moved by the strange alien landscapes of the Antarctic wilderness during his adventure expedition Lars finds himself in steady search of epic images. Growing up by the sea and my three-month study as a photographer on the Antarctic expedition ANT-XXIII / 9 on the research vessel Polarstern, he have developed a close relationship with the ocean and his endless horizon. Since then, he tries to regularly photograph extraordinary landscapes to confront the viewer with the force of nature and the stark contrast to the everyday urban life.
