ANIMAL DOODLES
One can find so many different patterns and textures in nature and especially on flora and fauna. This project celebrates animals and birds in all their glory by bringing out they beauty of their characteristics, behavior, colors and textures with doodles.
The idea was to experiment with doodles of tribal patterns on photographs of animals in the wild. I have always found inspiration in tribal art and off late in African patterns and designs specifically. My first doodle experiment was a Rhino for which I got a very good response on my social feeds and so I decided to make a series out of the experiment.
This project was done partly on Adobe Illustrator and partly on Adobe Photoshop. I started with fishing out compelling photographs from the internet, some of which I processed in Adobe Photoshop for slight adjustments and framing. I then proceeded to Adobe Illustrator for the illustrations which were done using my Intous Wacom graphic tablet. I used brushes of various sizes and thicknesses as I illustrated. Once I was done with the doodling bit, I exported the images and once again pushed them over to Adobe Photoshop, where I made further edits for a more enhanced, dramatic look.
What started as a casual experiment on a bored evening as my first attempt doodling on images, left me with a newfound love for animals and illustration. Not only was it a satisfying creative experiment, but also an enriching learning experience. After garnering a positive response from friends on the first doodle, there was no looking back. I went on to make a series of it and continued sharing posts of it in my social feeds where were people and designers from all over the world found this project unique, some felt the images produced were beautiful and some thought they were cute. Dressing animals is so much fun, I can't seem to stop finding new photographs and doodling on them. I think this is going to just end up being an ongoing, continuous project, so, there's going to be a lot more coming up for the world to see.
