A series of photograph focusing on Astrophotography was taken from 2016 up to present from Aotearoa. These photographs were captured using Canon 1100D and Canon 550D DSLR cameras.

When I was a kid when our teacher will ask the whole class about our ambitions. "Who do you want to be when you grow up?" All I remember is I always wanted to be an Astronaut. when I was a kid I have this big book about space and the universe where you can identify each planets and stars. The animated TV shows where the settings were located on Outer space had a big impact on me.

Thanks to the technologies and innovations, I may not be an astronaut today but I can still enjoy the wonderful and vast galaxies we have using DSLR cameras. New Zealand is one of the best places in the whole world to capture this amazing Stars and galaxies.

Astrophotography is different from other kind or style of photography we had. In Astro you have to prepare more and be ahead for a couple of days or a week. The first thing I always consider is the weather patterns
specially the clouds forecast, I always make sure that there will be clear skies on my area. (http://www.snow-forecast.com/maps/dynamic/nz?over=pressure&symbols=snow.forecast.dots&type=cloud) Next is light pollution, We need to get far away from the city lights or the moon light it will affect the out come of the photographs.

On 2016 I'm using my DSLR Camera Canon 1100D which I bought way back at 2012. This is where I started and enhance my skills in Astrophotography and in 2017 I bought my Canon 550D which is more features and settings than the other one.

The Process in Capturing the milky way needs to locate the best angle and composition of the core, to locate its exact location and time I'm using an android app called 'Sky map' and 'Star Walk 2' here you can find different patterns of the constellations and the Milky way with the time and its coordinates.

After locating the composition, I'm using my Camera, Tripod, and an Intervelometer remote which will capture the photos automatically . It's a trial and error on getting the best settings to capture the stars. I always use the basic settings of 30' sec shutter and the lowest aperture of my lens which is 2.8f and an ISO of 1600 or 3200.

When I'm satisfied on my settings I will leave my camera on and shooting for about 2-4 hrs.
I'm using Adobe lightroom CC and Adobe Photoshop CC for the post processing of my photos.

After processing my photographs I post it on my social media accounts I always wanted to share how wonderful our God is and how awesome are his creations. The feedback that I always received is that they were also amazed on our galaxy and that they were shock that this kind of stars exists. Photography is a never ending learning it always bring out the best of you day by day.
