I got a facebook fanpage a while ago, but have been just recently uploading my illustrations to it. I decided to make an illustration so I could use it not only as an avatar, but could print in stickers and business cards and at the same time it represented the essence of myself. I decided to document the process as I went along.

I think the fact that it was gonna be my fanpage profile picture basically made the decision of the media I was going to use. Plus the fact that I usually get a bigger response when I use digital media. I wanted it to be clean and attractive and an experiment for me.

I usually use acrylics to make my artwork, bus since it was going to be on facebook, I decided to skip the process of drawing it in paper and instead drew everything from scratch in photoshop and started lining and coloring as I went in. Initially I was going to use Illustrator, but started the sketch in photoshop with an intuos and kept going on. You can actually see that I changed the hair a bit to fit more with me. I think that when you enjoy yourself when working on something is when it turns out the best and I really loved the way this illustration turned out. It is simple, but it reflects me.

It started as a simple doodle on my free time, but I think I managed to actually make something that defines what I'm actually going for, it represents me and people have been noticing. Got great responses about it and I had so much fun that I want to keep working on this kind of illustrations as well as my usual paintings.

I studied arts since I was 5 years old, my major in college was graphic design and communication, what brought me to find my way back to illustration.

I’m currently working at BBDO Guatemala, where I found out that I actually like to bring to life web design, taking care of the way a user finds a platform interesting and interacts with it. I have a couple of projects of my own as an illustrator and animator and writing for Ethical Brands and Threadless.

When I’m not illustrating I’m managing Que Bonito, a handmade accessories brand I have with a friend.
