Located in Oradea, Romania, this small apartment was designed as a bright and colorful home for a young couple. The day area features an open space living room with kitchen and a small bathroom, everything separated by a hidden furniture door that leads to the hallway and into the night area with a bedroom, a spare room (with office purpose) and the main bathroom.
The client wanted a modern, light design, with a fresh colorful look. Because it’s quite a small apartment, we also focused our attention into getting the best possible mixture of furniture and storage space (for example, the hallway acts as a dressing area as well, with mirror doors on the wardrobes to enhance the sense of light and space).
Being North-oriented, we tried to enhance the beautifully diffused light as much as possible through the light colors and textures used – especially in the day area. For the night area we picked darker warm tones, to obtain a cozy, intimate effect in accordance with its destination.
We used 3dsMax and V-Ray to create the renders for the initial proposal as well as Corel Draw & SketchUp for floor plans and furniture details. The finished project was photographed by our colleague Andreea Iancu using a Canon 6D and Canon 17-40mm lens. Final tweaks (lens correction, minor brightness & contrast adjustments) were done in Adobe Lightroom.
Our client is happy with the end result – so we’re proud of what we achieved.
The most important thing we learnt on this project is that sometimes you should remember to loosen up and get playful in your design approach.
