The "Bunkers" image set is one of the many free projects that our featured artist is continuously working on. He loves to create landscape photographs with this kind of eerie solitude atmosphere. He likes to see this place as some sort of apocalyptic scenery when human-made things are left alone for the rest of their time in space. Let's take a peek at the photos of the old World War II bunkers.

I shot the pictures in a very short amount of time because it was already late in the day and this beach was the last one of the three locations where I wanted to get some good landscape pictures. Usually I spend two days for these kind of image sets when I shoot the pictures the one day and edit them in Adobe LightRoom or VSCO Cam on another day. It is also always a good idea to leave the pictures alone for a couple of days get a fresh view for what you've done.

I heard about this special beach from a friend of mine when he proposed it as a famous surfing spot. I knew there are a lot of old world war II bunkers on Denmark beaches, but didn't think about to visit them for a landscape shooting. He told me that it has some sort of eerie atmosphere there and that was the moment when I put that place on my list.

I traveled with one full frame camera body and different lenses. For this set I´ve used a standard 24-70mm lens and a lot of Adobe Lightroom development.

"The best camera is the camera with you" -- one important advice which I can give is not to concentrate on the equipment and lose yourself in technical features and comparisons between different cameras and lenses. The best camera is the camera with you! It doesn't matter how expensive you gear is, just practice as often as you can and keep in mind that photography is a steady learning progress which probably will never end. Enjoy it and keep shooting!

ABOUT LARS FOCKE

Lars Focke is a freelance photographer and designer from Hamburg, Germany. He is deeply moved by the strange alien landscapes of the Antarctic wilderness during his adventure expedition. Lars finds himself in a steady search of epic images. Growing up by the sea and his three-month study as a photographer on the Antarctic expedition ANT-XXIII / 9 on the research vessel Polarstern, he has developed a close relationship with the ocean and its endless horizon. Since then, he tries to regularly photograph extraordinary landscapes to confront the viewer with the force of nature and the stark contrast to the everyday urban life. His photographic works has a strong inspiration from science fiction topics like the visual language of Stanley Kubrick and Ridley Scott or motifs such as the feeling of abandonment and orientation in a suddenly unfamiliar desolate environment. He is constantly looking for designs that stand out from their surroundings as strange or unnatural to reduce them to their minimum form.
