Castles of Lithuania by Tadas Bujanauskas

The project “Castles of Lithuania” started basically as a free time activity by multidisciplinary designer Tadas Bujanauskas, it reflected upon nostalgia and his childhood experience. Growing up in Lithuania, he knew that the subject is not so much explored and touched so he came up with idea, and figured out how to draw it neatly and informative at the same time.

As you can see I have much more projects that are linear so it was a conscious decision to do it with line, but to make it more interesting I added some coloring. I can say, that each linear project evolves into a bit different and advanced, unique style, so I’m very happy about that, plus it motivates to draw more I guess.

Well my inspiration, I think as from the design point of view, definitely the line work and linear illustrations inspired me the most, which I really adore how neatly and simplified you can do. And as from visual and conceptual side of it, I think just memories and childhood experience with parents visiting some of those castles.

I think as my style evolves or has evolved already, I’m striving for the minimal and really neat and clean design. Having the essence but not too much of unnecessary details. You really have to eliminate all the things you don’t need in terms of design and content.

I guess an advice would be not to stay too long in one place, a safe place. I mean you constantly have to experiment and seek out for new abilities and new technique or style to improve.
