Character Design by Siu Wei Tan
Siu Wei Tan's Adobe Character Design Project was created to describe the adobe creative software that he mainly used in my daily life. The project itself is originally used for his portfolio, to explain which software he's using in each project. He wants to describe these software in a fun way, that people would be interested to see. The vibe that the character have is an alien, which describe the advanced technology used by designers (in this case designer).
I have worked out with some vector illustration project for my previous project, and when it comes to creating my portfolio, I think of how to engage and how to attract my clients to be interested more in my project. When I began my research, I have seen that some people use the adobe icons to describe that software they excel / use. So I came up with the idea what if I create a character for each software to make it more interesting. My style of art is mainly vector based illustration with a retro style of colour.

The tools and software that I use to create my artwork is Adobe Illustrator. My first step is to look out for related references, and it progress to create a appropriate theme and colour scheme for the character. After deciding on the theme, I move on to create some sketch that I could think of and proceed on deciding on the best character. Then, I digitalise the character and here it is.

People respond positively to my project. I learned that, to create a suitable character for something/someone, we would need to understand the things/person we want to create. By knowing it better, we will be able to portrays them, in a way that could suit it.

Siu Wei Tan is a graphic Designer from Indonesia, Jakarta. He's been working in the Design Industry for 1 and a half years, handling design for marketing purposes, website and social media. His main focus is in Layouting, however he has been interested in learning more about Vector art. Currently learning on how to improve his work, and learning new things.
