Chennai is Awesome by Srinath Srinivasarao was a booth design project which he worked on at Freshdesk. The idea was to design a stall showcasing some of the awesome things in Chennai, that would get people interested in the city and would move to Chennai and join them. Chennai or the 'Detroit of India' because of its automobile industry is the capital city of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Located on the Coromandel Coast off the Bay of Bengal, it is the biggest industrial and commercial centre in South India.

I had already seen a couple of illustrations on the web of some of the landmarks across India and saw this as an opportunity to do a comprehensive illustration comprising of some of the major elements of Chennai, that people who grew up in the city would associate a lot with.

I don't have a particular style per se. My style actually varies depending on the type of treatment the project needs. I draw a lot of inspiration from the creative community on Behance. Too many inspirations to list.

My only advice to a fellow/aspiring artist is to have patience and accept criticism constructively. While the need to showcase it to the world immediately is understandable, setting it aside and having it critiqued by a third eye and working on the finer details is paramount to a good designer. Like they say "Small things lead to perfection, but perfection is not a small thing".

Srinath Srinivasarao currently works as a Designer at Freshdesk, one of India's hottest startups. He's an engineer by education and switched to a career in design, out of strong passion for the field. Prior to this, he worked in the VFX industry and have created FX simulations and CG lighting for a couple of Hollywood and regional movies. This particular stint had taught him a lot about the basics of lighting, scene composition and most important of all, attention to detail.
