Andrew Nye's project "City treats" is a personal illustration series combining cities with foods that can be found within them. From Amsterdam's famous Stroopwafel (Caramel waffle) to the Pizza in Pisa.

Whilst working on other projects I create lots of (mostly throwaway) sketches. Sometimes they can be the start of a new project. This was one I decided to push on with. I enjoy playing off an idea– creating a series that is linked by a simple theme.

These foods are mostly drawn from experiences from my own trips to these places… (Keeping it healthy as you can see!) I looove gradients with restricted colour palettes and (hopefully) a playful concept. So many inspirations… at uni as a designer I loved illustrative logo concepts (smile in the mind book has it all) and also conceptual artists and illustrators– banksy, all the SHOP magazine cover illustrators…

I’m still learning to be honest!! but mainly enjoy it… work with your passions and you’ll have more energy… it's maybe a little clichéd, but i think it really matters...!
