Cold Holes

This render was done in my free time in Mumbai when recession hit the markets. Work was slim and I was going through some magazines with my boss for inspiration , we both agreed the building was beautiful and i decided it would do pretty well as a personal project. The lighting and the metallic texture was a challenge , but it came through nicely.

The style was mostly inspired by the image in the Magazine. I added a few extra features though , like exaggerating the Decals of the facade to make it look more rustic and worn down ; oft times we don't realize the beauty in used and worn objects, the experience it carries with it makes it grand, and i felt this quality does well on a commercial place- showing experience and its ability to stick around.

The project took a while to complete. It was done in my earlier days of working and i was still learning (of course i will never stop learning) , the structure was a challenge because of the holes in the facade- and i had little to go on with in terms of dimensions, the structure is almost all guess work. The holes were created with a basic spline shape (using boolean would be too heavy) And were fit to window size and then copied all over. The shutters were separate to make them open. Then came the texturing. , reflections maps were the way to go; Vray dirt was not giving satisfactory results , though it was used to create the soft shadows and aging around the corners. Lighting was a trick, it seems the original photographer had used artificial lights to light up the rear end , and as i was aiming to get as close as possible to the ref. image i too added and extra vray plane light besides the HDRI.

I learnt a lot. The project was an accomplishment and was well received.
People liked the overall feel and realism added to the image. It was my very first exterior project and i was happy the way it came out. I learnt how to create a more convincing photo-realistic image and how the camera affects a lot of the factors related to it. It was also an ambitious Post production which gave me an opportunity to learn very much.

A Snow version that amplifies this project is coming up. Hold tight and stick around.

Laid back. That's basically it.
I aim to achieve the summit of 3D Architectural Visulaization. Creating inspiring art is my professional objective.
Whenever i see or feel something amazing and stunning , a thing worthy of simply 'wow' ; it inspires me to make something like that too , be it whatever - a good dish or an excellent image.
