Cosmic Entity
A mage facing a divine cosmic entity...
The idea came from reading the book Call of Cthulhu by H. P. Lovecraft, and also thinking about what it would be like to meet Cthulhu and a Sorcerer Supreme in the Doctor Strange vibe.
About the style, I really like the drawing itself, the line, the hatch, the graphics. The color palette decided to look more like a comic book, giving a touch of fantasy over the horror style.
i used ipad, apple pencil and the procreate app. After defining the concept, I sketched the overall composition. I wanted the entity to be huge, colossal. So I detailed the sketch, making changes to the initial composition. Then I went to final art, line art and painting.
I liked that some people easily noticed the inspiration in Lovecraft's Cthulhu, and appreciated the somewhat psychedelic air of the illustration. All art teaches us something and gives us new ideas for future projects, as well as new ways of looking at art itself.
Well I'm still trying to find my way as an artist, I feel like a lifelong learner on a difficult but inspiring quest. I love to draw, and I hope I can bring some inspiration to people with my work and as a human being. And sorry for my possible English mistakes (laughs), I'm not native.
