ERR is Estonia’s public broadcasting, and over the years it has been recognized and awarded for delivering top quality content and programs for all kinds of audience – from movies to sport competitions, whatever you can name.
Mobi Lab is the mobile design and development studio behind their latest app. ERR addressed us to redesign their mobile experience, and we found it to be a very interesting project, offering us many different challenges to overcome. Also, since most Estonians will use the application, we will collect a lot of additional feedback.
One of our biggest goals was for the users to feel a breeze when using the app, and that’s why we came up with a very simple and effective navigation – so simple and effective that actually allowed us to remove the navigation menu, which we are very proud of. We managed to gather all 3 different apps in a single one.
At first, we discussed with ERR about their needs and goals for the new app. Communication with ERR was very fluent during the whole process. Then we made a deep analysis at the existing applications to see how they were designed and built, and how they could be improved. We collected some feedback from real users, which gave us a very valuable input.
Once we had our own visions and ideas, we made some prototypes and shared them with the client, to get their feedback. After getting a green light, we kept on working on our ideas and concepts, always updating the client, until the moment it required final approval and testing, before going live.
The feedback we are getting is pretty good so far. Most people highlight the fact that the navigation is much more easy than in the previous version, and that it’s much easier to find the content they want to watch.
