Fan by Gerhardt Kellermann
We might have seen all kinds of designs of a fan, and they almost looked the same. But, in our feature for today, our designer had conceptualized a way to optimize the functions of a fan while keeping its design minimal but very functional. Check this out!
FAN is a commissioned (free) project we worked on some years ago. For us it was quite important to see and test how far we can go to reduce an object and keep it's optimal function at the same time. After studying the main technical components, their specifications and manufacturing techniques,
we started to work on a new solution.-Gerhardt Kellermann
We defined the main usage and functions to be able to optimize the height and remove the tilting feature while keeping the 180° pan option. A capacitive touch switch allows you to increase or decrease the fan speed by simply swiping your fingers along the fan neck. A cable warp was added to the bottom part of the base. The parting seams are developed to be almost invisible by covered parts.

In the end we tried to reduce the fan to the necessary and keep the archetype of the product.
