A couple of months ago digital designer João de Almeida had the chance to work with Brian James for a project where they had a similar briefing. The App service was based on a similar business model and all those inputs he had were very useful this time, so coming up with the design was way more simple than he thought.

Despite the fact we usually have a short amount of time to make it happen on a pitch, I thought it would be a good decision to keep the Design clean, fresh and task focused. Once we are talking about no brand guidelines and user-friendly solutions, those were my first premises.

I had 3 main references for the visual concept: Shyp, DropBox and Plant App. Mostly because I believed these apps are very task oriented, thus we come up with these clean solutions and focus more on the brand value proposition and efficient service. I like to call it "no bullshit Design". Or, according to some specialists, Design.

To be honestly I am not that special, so as my Designs. In this particular case, I don't feel like the edge/differentiation should come from the Design itself. Reason why I tried to keep it as honest as possible. What do I mean by honest? Letting the service talk for itself instead of an egocentric Design solution.

At the moment I don't believe I have a proper style. I am still searching for it, working on it.
Once I have it I believe I will be able to become great. In the meanwhile not having a style allows me to adapt and be more flexible with new ideas and concepts, absorbing more and more knowledge than others.

Usually, when I first meet a person I immediately ask "what is your superpower?". That shit is amazing, finding the skill that makes you unique. As an olympic athlete I realized my superpower was Resilience and I made it my fuel to achieve new goals in the Design field. Honestly, who am I to give advice? But if I may give away one, it would be: "Find your purpose, use your superpower and have some balls to become person you want to be".
