This Food Website project was an interesting work for Hashim Choudhry because he doesn't design that much. While in the process of rebuilding his portfolio, he wanted to add a good solid UI project to illustrate simplicity and how it isn't a barrier to good UI. He then decided to base a UI project on a restaurant theme, the idea being purely random. Hashim started working on the idea in Photoshop and started drafting ideas. The idea of a restaurant based UI web design just came to him.

Drafts and planning, even if I don't jot something down I still have a good solid plan in my head of the final outcome. I recommend planning to any designer because it gives you a good backbone to work with and evolve with. I don't have a specific inspiration for this one. However, good simple UI did play a part in my "style" when it came to the project itself. I've always loved minimalism and call myself a minimalist designer, less is more and it applies to this project. I tried to put a good amount of content within the page whilst keeping it user-friendly!

My advice for designers is to take a couple of Breaks! I normally take long breaks, not out of choice but when university rolls around I get quite busy. Like I said previously, this is the first UI concept I've done in around 8 months. Even though I didn't choose to take long breaks I do recommend taking breaks from time to time. Even if it's short I find it helpful with creativity. Get inspired by friends, try to make friends with people who inspire you and push you as a designer, it really helps. Last tip is just to browse, check out random portfolios and see how other designers are working. What styles and techniques do they have, what do you like and what don't you like about their work. All this can help inspire your work for the better.

Don't get discouraged if you see some amazing portfolios, at the end of the day we're all learning and growing and to be a great designer is part of the process.
