Seven of ten illustrations made for the Funky Buddha Brewery, based in Boca Raton, Florida, along 2 years of work directed by the design agency “The Brandit”. The projects were used for labels, packages, box trucks and various marketing pieces. Although they have different themes, the proposal was that all had in common, fun scenes and play with their ingredients, Miami scenarios, movies, TV shows, etc.
The Funky Buddha Brewery is a brand known for producing great beers and the irreverent tone used on their labels. A style that perfectly married to my work. The “The Brandit” hired me through illustrators agency Illozoo with an irresistible proposal to create / redesign the new face of the brand’s products. All the brief was provided by the agency after meeting with the client. The colors are defined by ingredient color or beer, for example, in Blueberry Cobbler the predominant color is blue, Nib Smuggler is brown because cocoa in its formula. I also drew the types of most of them.
The sketches were all made in pencil and submitted to The Brandit for initial feedback, done all composition changes, we set off to define colors and finally I used Adobe Illustrator to finish the artwork. The granulated effects I did in Photoshop and used the Vector Magic program for a vectorization with more control. Some Illustrator plugins were essential as VectorScribe and Phantasm, all of Astute Graphics.
I received many compliments until here. Some youtube channels specialized in beer speak well of the label too, but is in Behance.net website that have a more reliable feedback. They were crazy days, with short deadlines and it was great for me to learn to better manage my time. Also, I had a chance to put into practice some techniques and tools that had never used. I had so much fun.
