The Green Fire Punk Girl by Alessia Trunfio
Want to see a punk girl with some weird powers getting ready for a battle? Alessia Trunfio's “The Green Fire Punk Girl” is part of a series of personal projects Alessia does during the night when she's too tired to work and just wants to draw and at the same time, experiment something different.
This illustration comes out in a long night I was very angry (I don't remember why!) and my Punk girl express that anger. From the beginning I wanted to give to this illustration a kind of punk, underground and post-apocalyptic atmosphere, for that reason I used those acid colors especially for the fire. All I wanted was to illustrate the beginning of an epic battle so I tried to create that exact moment before the fight in which she's getting ready for it.

I alway use photoshop for my illustrations, I love it and I'll never leave it! First I did a rough pencil sketch, Then I started to clean up the lines. (I don't usually clean the lines before starting coloring, I like keeping them kinda rough, but in this illustration I wanted to give an "anime" style). Then I do shape layers for all the objects and the body part (example: skin, hair, eyes, fire...ecc) then I start shadowing and highlighting the parts, and I give especially for the background some pieces a "rocky" texture, with some brushes I've created. then I give the illustration some "finishing touches", using filters and light layers with blending modes.

It was a surprise for me when I saw that people liked this artwork made just for fun or to work off my anger. The appreciation of the people is very gratifying and it pushes me to continue doing illustrations, but I think that is not the most important thing. However the appreciation of the people is pleasant, this is not the reason why I'm drawing: that's my job and I love doing it and I will continue to do in spite of everything and everyone. I've learned that sometimes when you feel upset and angry you can always use that emotions to create something good.

About Alessia Trunfio
Alessia Trunfio is a 2D Background Colorist, illustrator and animator Based in Rome. She has been working in the professional animation field since 2013. After a degree in cinema, arts and music show at the RomaTre University and the degree in the Animation course of the International School of Comics based in Rome, she immediately started her career as a Background Colorist for the main animation studios in Rome. At the moment, she's working as a freelance on various Animation or illustration projects.
