INFRARED NYC
A series of infrared/aerochrome photos to show Central Park from a different perspective.
The purpose is highlight the majesty and the contrast of nature included in the famous Big Apple's skyscrapers.
I love to go trough new photographic technique, seeking and discovering new things and reality. I fall in love with the Richard Mosse photography and inspired by his images, I wanted to recreate something special, original and modern.
I love to go trough new photographic technique, seeking and discovering new things and reality. I fall in love with the Richard Mosse photography and inspired by his images, I wanted to recreate something special, original and modern. I choose Cental Park as location because I wanted to capture the unique environment of Central Park, an Island of Paradise within the city. Central Park is the place where people go to have a break from the busy routine of the city, you can just sit there and it seems that you enter in a new pacific world. All my images were photographed in Central Park because for this type of infrared photography I need a big and massive piece of nature, and I want to put in contrast the “green” with the gray colors of the buildings. What the best place to capture the nature instead a city?
Most of my projects were shooted in the same day. I use to wait a while waiting for the perfect shooting day with a clear sky. In spring we have a lot of rainy and cloudy days in NY so it was not easy to find the perfect slot. As I’ve already told you I prefer shooting projects in one day in order to have similar lights, people and atmosphere in the shoots. I woke up early in the morning to have a Central Park not full of people using the perfect sunrise light.
I used my Canon 5D Mark III with a 24-70mm f/2.8, 35mm f/1.5 with a infrared filter. Later I have adjusted and post-produced the images in photoshop.
All people already know Central Park and they really love my new colorful vision of that! I think that most of people think about NY as a gray, animated and chaotic city. With the infrared shoots I want to recreate a candy, colorful and a dreamily NYC never seen before. I want to create an ongoing series and I’m planning to come out with another infrared series… but the place will be a surprise!
i love it! the color´s work is incredible! congrats.
Wow, I saw your work before here and finally another new one! Looks fantastic.
I'm curious did you have to remove the filter inside of your camera? Or can you get this with a UV filter on top of an unmodified camera.
