It’s the world’s first, small, ultra-portable camera specifically focused on creating and capturing great content for Instagram. The 12-megapixel camera mimics the Instagram logo’s compact square form and sports a minimal, one-button control. Other features include video stabilization, wind noise reduction, and it’s completely waterproof!

I came up with the idea one day when i went to the beach with a couple of mates, i noticed how everyone brought their phones with just to take a couple of pictures to put on their Instagram, when I asked them who felt uncomfortable having their phones there, everyone said they did. Immediately this idea of creating a durable high quality waterproof camera came to mind. I did not wanted to design a camera that would automatically fall into the category of small action “sports” cameras like GoPro etc, I wanted to design something different, something unique that will grab the attention of a specific audience, and that audience was the Instagram users. So I have set out to design a ultra-portable camera for the people on the go who still want to capture amazing moments in time without having the hassle of carrying their phones with them everywhere their go whether it being the beach, a hike or a party.

I grabbed the old trusted pen and paper and did a couple of initial sketches. I took the design I liked the most and drew up a CAD model of it using Solidworks where after imported the file into Keyshot and did a couple of renders while playing with materiality and textures. Thereafter did some small edits and adjustments and added text etc using both Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

I have to be honest here, I initially didn’t tell anyone that im busy with this project until it was finished. I could not believe the incredible positive response I received from people of all over. I cant even begin to explain how many people have asked me when this product will be available or when and where they can purchase one then I have to make them understand that is just a concept, but as a young and upcoming industrial designer this makes me extremely happy and it’s a massive boost in confidence.
