Jardin is a personal project showing the aesthetic beauty of women and nature. Combining these two main subjects in my work I try to create a magical space and make people not only see the artwork but feel it with different senses…
I was traveling a lot last year. Spending some time in the rough nature of Portugal, hiking in the Czech Republik, enjoying the Museums in Moscow and St.Petersburg getting inspired by the Russian female artists of the avant-garde of the 20th century, visiting the beautiful Botanical Garden in Vienna, Lisbon and Berlin which where really impressive.
For this project I used the tools I usually work with. I am using different kind of pencils for the figurative elements, because I can put the focus on details like eyes and lips which I think are the most important parts that make a character expressive. After this I start to add the colorful elements like leaves and other shapes I am drawing with watercolors and inks. In the end of course I use the magic hand of Photoshop to complement the artwork.
People enjoy this series because it creates a nice atmosphere in the room. Every female character is different and the visitors of my exhibition reacted very strong on the color range I put in every piece. Especially “Citrus” has this magical depth and its so beautiful to see how people(especially women) responded to her, getting caught by her intense eyes.
