LUNCHADORS TAQUERIA is a conceptual idea for an authentic taqueria based in Chicago that I created for one of my independent design classes in college. My objective was to experiment with illustration while creating a unique identity and brand for a restaurant.

This project was based around a taqueria I visited while spending time in Chicago, while I was there I had this idea of a retired luchador who decided to open up his own small business. With any of my projects the process began with sketching a lot of ideas for logos, business cards, and menu design. I wanted to bring together some of materials that a restaurant would need to promote themselves. Originally I thought of having the flat circular luchador echo the idea of a flat tortilla. I wanted my illustration and color choices to stand out and be bold.

With any project I find it critical to first list off ideas and even look around for inspiration in my daily life. Once I have spent some time working on my sketches, I would scan in images I have found or my drawings and begin to turn those into vector illustrations. A majority of the work I do is done in illustrator, with some photoshop.

I learned a lot in this project, it really gave me the opportunity to work with my illustrations while creating a fun branding and identity project. It was fun to have full control and work from a single concept. The most exciting aspect was the logo development and application concept, I hope to return to this project in the future and add to it.
