In 2015, Architect and Photographer, Alessandro Guida spent a few months in Copenhagen and had the opportunity to record and experience the changes this city is having. Inaugurated in 2008, Metropolis is a 40 meters tall residential building, with its round shapes and an organic appearance it is an alien presence on the outermost peninsula of Sluseholmen (which was expanded by 2000 artificial square meters), it is surrounded by water on three sides and the texture of the facade's fibre-reinforced concrete cladding will eventually achieve a patina, which will resemble the surface of a sea shell.

Its strong connection with the water is strengthened by a public swimming pool that serves the all neighborhood and put into effect the will of the city to put in relation its citizens with the canal (in 2002, the first public harbour bath opened in the area of Islands Brygge, making Copenhagen among the few people in Europe able to bathe in their harbour). I used a Sony mirrorless camera for this project.

I will never compromise myself with a style, I think it is too constraining to force my subjects into default boundaries. I see photography as a tool to understand the realty around me and express my own vision framing these moments of true. On architectural photography among the most influential photographers for me are Lucien Hervé and Eugène Atget, as I am always trying to find a good balance between record a scene and give to it a new meaning it is important for me to have in mind the work of these two masters when I approach something new.
