An illustration of the Marvel Comics character The Mighty Thor, created by editor-plotter Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber, and penciller-plotter Jack Kirby. The character, based on the Norse deity of the same name, is the Asgardian god of thunder and possesses the enchanted hammer Mjolnir, which grants him the ability to fly and manipulate weather amongst his other superhuman attributes.
I wanted to vary my style a little by testing different techniques. As I do not have paint material, I decided to use Photoshop in my favor in this case because there you get everything. With the contrast black and white I could highlight more the bolts in the illustration.
I started by drawing in pencil on an A4 sheet. Then I scanned the drawing and put it in photoshop. Using masks, I used a dense brush to do the effect on the background and then added lightning bolts over it using the outer glow effect to simulate the luminosity.
It was highly praised. I feel that I am getting better and better. As I took photoshop course a few years ago, I did not have so many difficulties. But with each drawing I’m discovering a variety of options to complement my work and make it more complete.
