NYMPHAEA - Natural History Society is a non-governmental, apolitical, independent, non-lucrative, scientific, cultural, and educational organization.

The Association was founded in 1993, at the initiative of a group of naturalists from the Muzeul Tarii Crisurilor, aiming to protect and enhance the natural and cultural heritage of the Bihor area.

The name of the organization comes from Nymphaea lotus var. Thermalis - the thermal lily - a plant protected by the law, being from 1932 a natural monument, which lives in the reservation in Baile 1 Mai, near Oradea.

Because the name of the association is Nymphaea and signifies a particular species, the thermal lily, I thought it would be best for the logo to resemble a stylized shape of a lily flower. I decided to combine the shape of the flower with sacred geometry, namely, the symbol of the flower of life. I also wanted to capture in the logo the jagged form of the nymphaea leaf, which distinguishes the thermal lily from the rest of the species.

As a final version I chose a model to represent the flower and the lily leaf seen from above, in which 2 copies of the flower of life overlap, at an angle of 30 degrees, resulting in a flower with 12 petals of the tips of which slightly exceed the toothed and stylized edge of the leaf.

The logo was made in various chromatic colors, from green to blue, finally opting for turquoise color. The water lily as a plant, corresponds to the green color, and the water, the environment in which it lives, the blue color. The combination of the two colors, the vegetal and the aquatic, resulted in the final color, turquoise, set to define the logo.

The first step was to make some sketches on paper, then I continued to do variations of the logo in Illustrator. After I had the final version of the logo, I created the pattern. The logo and the patterns have been applied on various prints and supports (mockups) using Photoshop. These prints were made for the members of the organization and volunteers, respecting the proportions, composition and page layout.

I've been getting very positive feedback about this project from both the members of the organizations and also the public. It's amazing to see this for my first project of rebranding posted and it gave me more confidence and made me more excited about sharing other projects.
