Aisnley Knott hit a phase in his artwork where he really likes creating unique and interesting perspectives. This piece was created during the 2012 Olympic games and he was really inspired by some of the weird ways athletes could contort their bodies and achieve these great physical feats. Let us take a look and may this serve as an inspiration to your next project. Enjoy!

I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could create a dynamic, obscure perspective purely from my mind, and more so I wanted to get an angle that would be really difficult for a photographer to achieve, thus making it more unique.

I did a lot of sketches of high jumpers to see what sort of position the body is in just as it goes over the pole. I then tried to use my knowledge of anatomy and foreshortening to work out how those positions would look from the angle I wanted.

Later on I felt this could become a more inspiring piece if I incorporated some message into the picture and decided to add the text subtly to the laces of the shoe.

About Ainsley Knott

Ainsley Knott's passion for drawing and illustration began in his early years, sketching portraits of the heroes that shaped his days, like the mighty He-man and The Ninja Turtles. This found its way into his school lessons where he spent cherished time paying notice to the doodles in the back of his books rather than the chalkboard. Fortunately, it all paid off and in 2006 he graduated from the Arts University Bournemouth, UK with a degree in Illustration. You can find more of his works on his Behance profile or website.

  1. This is the first time I saw the combination of drawing and human body. And I have to say that it is very amazing and unique. I would like to see your other designs and work.
