Illustrator Antanas Gudonis have always been playing with idea to create imaginary place/world around which he could spin loads of different stories and scenarios. This project was basically a little exercise, sketch of that place.

Each time before painting something I try to imagine scene I want to draw. Then I usually sit down with cup of coffee and start playing with shapes in Photoshop. I don't do any sketches - I usually just keep twisting, cutting, adding different objects to image until something "clicks" and I feel that mood and composition is as it should be. It sounds chaotic and it really is:)

I really love the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, Terry Pratchett - they managed to create believable worlds where you can escape and live in. My main drive to do this is need to create living interesting world and give a glimpse to it through illustration. I believe imagination is driving us forward and there is so many seriousness in our daily lives, would be nice if we could forget it more often and allow ourselves a smile and a dream more often.

My style is a mix really.. I like classical painters for the mood and colors. I like children book illustrators for characters which are funny. Also old etchings for level of detail. Basically I try to melt everything I like into one:)

Always question your work. Look at every line, every dot and ask yourself - are you happy with it. Be honest with yourself. I haven't managed to do it 100 percent myself but I'm trying:)
