Giovanna Giuliano used to be a graphic designer and as such she have always hated grainy pictures and pixels. With this project, Giovanna tried to turn the pixel into something elegant and pleasant to the eyes. She tried to overturn its fate as an execrated little square.

I've worked many years with the acrylic paints and now it's only a matter of months since I started using digital technology to create my works. I think the graphic tablet is my instrument: to me it was like a revelation. I wanted to create a hybrid between illustration and textures. It took me a lot of time and I've done many changes to the tail/texture of the peacock, but eventually I'm really satisfied with the final result.

Grainy pictures, old videogames and, of course, a lot of pictures of peacocks! :)

My style is work in progress since decades. I try to create a suspended and silent atmosphere in every work I do. I like to think that there can be like a pause between the illustration and the one who's watching it, a moment of relax. I've got an obsession for even the smallest detail and I don't leave nothing to chances.Sometimes I use days or weeks just to make a decision over a color palette, that for me is almost the most important thing.

Inspirations can be found everywhere: in a little vase for plants, in road signs, in my son's striped shirts, in the food... everywhere. Anyway main inspiration in the last years is George Seurat and the pointillism in general.

My advice is to work with dedication and pleasure. There's nothing worst than an approximate work that doesn't satisfy its own author
