Zach Wiltgen's project is all about our favorite Pokémon, which is probably one the most famous video game. It is centered on fictional creatures called "Pokémon", which humans known as Pokémon Trainers catch and train to battle each other for sport.

This project really just came about as a means for me to put more work out there. I had recently done minimal artwork for Stars Wars characters and I really enjoyed it. I wanted to do the same kind of work again with a little more detail, as well as something that would hopefully appeal to many others. As something I've spent far too much of my life playing, Pokémon was an easy choice. This project offered me some challenges and encouraged me to be creative with the shadows/outlines as well as different textures.

I don't follow too many artists or designers. I did have a chance to hear Chuck Anderson at a conference in Chicago and his story was very inspiring. I also recommend checking out the amazing emoji work of Yung Jake. My advice is to never hesitate on an idea you enjoy. Solidify it, create it, and put it out there. There are so many spaces for creativity on the Internet now. Like Chuck Anderson, if you keep doing good work, someone will find you. Worst case scenario: you get some constructive criticism and take what you learned to another project.
