PPA is the acronim of The "Polish Pool Association". PPA is an association based in Gdańsk, Poland. It is a large community of more than 300 hundred of billiard lovers, among a solid staff of administrators, instructors, event managers and professional players. They organize meetings, events and tournaments. I've wished to design a logo that is simple and effective, first thinking of the billiard lovers, a logo that they would love. This was the main purpose, and motivated most of the choices in the design. The idea came really quickly as a flash. The logo is built starting from a billiard ball, adding the name PPA and the tagline. The choice of the colors are inspired by the real game colors.

Here in Gdańsk (Poland) we have a lot of billiard clubs. So, I designed my own version of a pool association logo. I was mainly inspired by the night mood, the lights in the dark. Therefore the logo idea started from a ball and a reflection on it.

Everything project should start with the ideas and the purposes. After the ideas, I draw some freehand sketches. Then I have drawn the final version of the logo using Affinity Designer and I've chose the favorite colors. Then I prepared some mockups in Affinity Photo. Last step, the exportation to high quality files.

When project was done, I asked first feedback from coworkers at job and asked them for a review. The same I've done for with my family Fortunately, the project was successful. People love it. I've learned that simplicity helps, when every part is right positioned and have right proportions. The idea is my favorite step in designing a logo. I find the choice of colors, a bit more tricky. Maybe because of the infinite possibilities and cannot decide, or because of the fear of doing a final choice, that you would change after a week... How do you think about that?
