Product designer Arnaud Biju-Duval's "Raw Handmade Watch" was an exploration of his ideal watch - simple, clean and raw. He wanted to create a minimalist watch that can still awe and turn heads despite of its simplicity, thus this project.

This project was born the day I set out to design and build my own watch. I like things simple, clean and raw. So I decided to make a minimalist watch with just a combination of casual materials and colors, hence the choice to use matte black for the case and buckle, and brown / cognac for the dial and bracelet. to give the feeling of a raw product, I had to combine natural materials like cork and leather with stainless steel with black PVD coating. This project was an opportunity for me to familiarize myself with tools and specific techniques of horology : assembly of mechanical movement, making cork dial, insertion of hands ...

I realized some illustrations on Adobe Illustrator to complete the design of the watch, before making it. The main challenge was to recreate the different textures of materials in vector while keeping my graphic identity.
