Resonance by Christoffer Rosenfeldt
Christoffer Rosenfeldt project is really more of an ongoing personal light study for him. His parents live out in this little hamlet called Jersie and one evening he decided to take a drive and have a look at the two small towns on either side of Jersie.
I was struck by how idyllic and suburban these little towns looked although they were surrounded by farmland. It reminds me, in a way, of where I grew up. This project is all about nostalgia.

Firstly, the need to do something new for myself and then using the feeling of nostalgia to draw on. I don't really do work of this sort and so I thought I'd try to draw on my feelings a bit. These are the same feelings I had as a young teenager, this sense of excitement which was tinged with a slight sense of melancholy. I think It's a feeling we all used to have or had at some point. And so I decided to try to catch it at a time of the day when I feel it most present.

Honestly I'm still trying to work it out for myself. I think "atmospheric" would be a way to describe it. Maybe a little cinematic sometimes? With my portrait work I always make use of flash and as much lighting I can throw at a subject, but I always try to emphasise the surroundings and ambient light. As far as photographers go there are too many to mention, but if you like these pictures then I'll ask you to look at Benoit Paillé, Franck Bohbot, Justin Bettman, Gregory Crewdson (aka "God"), Loic Le Quere and Guillaume Tomasi.

Do more personal work. Do more work for yourself. It's advice I really should take myself as I haven't done too much of it but every time I have, it's paid off far more than any paid assignment. Also, try to make your work as cohesive as possible, especially if it's a series. That goes without saying.

For these I used a Canon 5DmkII with a 24-70mm f/2.8. There is almost nothing that can't be done with that camera. And you can pick them up for very little these days.
