Alex Peryan's project is about a cool group on Facebook which called Brainstorm. Every month they give a new theme, that make your imagination work harder. During the past month the theme was a redesign of "Dinotopia" by James Gurney. Alex thought, that this is a great opportunity to practice in the robot's design. Robots are cool, Dinosaurs - are also cool, and a mix of both - well, this could be double cool.

The idea of the design is not actually original, but I've tried to make it more believable and more or less functional. Without hovering interfaces, super smooth shapes and sci-fi lights. From this point, it's more like a grandson of the modern excavator.

For me, one of the most inspiring things, when the project lets you learn something new. And, of course, very important, that you've liked the result. The internet did the world much smaller, and every time, when you look through the works of the talented artists from all over the world, you feel this inspiration at your fingertips.

As I said, this is more some kind of relative of the modern construction machinery, that is why it looks a little similar. All these tractors and excavators are so good as references, because they were done by real specialists and they are actually working in the reality. Also, I'm really inspired by works of Vitaly Bulgarov, Christian Pearce, Aaron Beck. These guys are the best.

You need to look for
the opportunity to learn something new always. The industry of the CG is growing very dynamically and as soon as you'll decide, that you know enough - at this moment you have a risk of being left behind.

About Alex Peryan

Alex Peryan was born in a small village at the south of Ukraine. He began to draw from his childhood, but unfortunately, he never went to any art school. His way to the CG was pretty long. After his graduation from economic university, he worked as a manager at the window's construction company, then as a manager at the confectionary, and then as a manager of QA. All this time, he studied the basics of the computer graphics, drawing etc. So one day he decided, that he needs to dedicate himself to something, that he really love. Now, he's working as a freelancer in the gamedev industry. See more of his works on Behance.
