A stool design that mixes CNC milling and traditional Barniz de Pasto craft technique. Decorative craft applied on surfaces reminds the emerging image of Galeras volcano over San Juan de Pasto city buildings, an urban landscape. Graphic decorative work is an interpretation of the urban landscape, telling users a hidden urban tale.

Applying craft techniques onto furniture surfaces is a new way to create more interesting objects, in this case Barniz de Pasto decoration aim is to tell a story about the city. The overcome is a furniture piece that tells both users and viewers a story: a small city at the south of Colombia, San Juan de Pasto, that lays down an iconic mountain: the Galeras volcano.

This object is matter of contrast between production techniques. The graphics are applied using Barniz de Pasto traditional technique, a natural resine (mopa mopa) coat cutted by hand once is placed onto a surface. Surfaces in this case are stool pieces, fabritcated by CNC milling. By the other hand, the stool is fabricated by CNC milling.

Pleople liked the mix between fabritation processes, CNC milling and Barniz de Pasto craft technique. Moreover, these mixes can be a source of innovation for product development, especially in Latinamerican countries with a huge arts and crafts tradition. At the end, the objects emerging from this concept can be both functional and decorative.
