The Siamese Bar Table is cast in metal with a rough polish. The form was generated using computer algorithms, and the mold carved using large-scale CNC routers. But with all this technology, the goal was to create balance through organic forms and a textural finish. The name comes from the fact that the original form was duplicated, inverted and joined together to form a larger, more dynamic piece.

Jason Phillips

Jason Phillips is a furniture executive by day, furniture designer by night. He is Vice President of his family’s furniture company, Phillips Collection, which was founded in New York nearly 35 years ago. In 2001 the company moved its headquarters to High Point, North Carolina, where Jason, his wife Karen and their 1-year-old son Lawson live. You may find four dachshunds at their house as well!

Jason studied fine art in his teenage years, taking intensive classes after hours in sculpting, figure drawing and painting. While attending the University of Michigan, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BFA in Industrial Design (2005), he developed technical skills in graphic design and 3D modeling. It was his background in fine art and world travel with the family business that helped Jason form his own brand, Jason Phillips Design, which serves as a conduit for his out-of-the-box furniture design concepts. While his attention is fully-invested in Phillips Collection, he still finds time to explore his creative passion.

Phillips Collection is a very innovative design leader in the furniture industry and Jason knows how fortunate he has been to be a part of the company growth. His father, Mark Phillips, is a visionary and industry icon. His mother, Julie, has a Masters in Architecture. Through these unique perspectives, Jason has been able to study these great role models to push himself to the best of his abilities. He has won many of the top industry awards, including multiple Pinnacle Awards as well as a three-time recipient of the coveted ARTS Award for Top Product Designer.

As much as Jason has garnered the respect of his peers as a young leader in the furniture industry, it is his extracurricular work that gives you the best insight into what makes him tick. Jason sits on numerous industry boards and was recently appointed President of the American Society of Furniture Designers. He does a lot of work in the community. From projects with the High Point City Council to serving special needs adult artists at The Enrichment Center in Winston-Salem.
