The concept of garbage is non-existent in nature. There are symbiotic relationships in nature, where an output generated by one in an input for another. Silver Lining was born out of the same notion. It is a laundry bag made up of used toothpaste tubes, sewn together in patches to form a firm surface for the bag.

It was done as part of the green design course in college. After analysing the waste generated on campus, empty toothpaste tubes were chosen and experimented with. It was observed that the layers of #4 plastic and aluminium form a strong surface and the inner silver side could be of great aesthetic value.

The best part is that, barely any tools were required to make it. Since everybody uses it, the process of collection was easy. Then they were washed and made flat. After this, they were stitched together in the required measurements forming the walls of the laundry bag.

Laundry bag was a major necessity in the hostel and was something almost everyone owned. People were amazed with the tube's firm property and really liked the outer silver side. They appreciated the reuse of empty toothpaste tubes. This product increases the life cycle of the toothpaste tubes, which mostly end up in the land fills. Environmental awareness and protection is a priority. Our ancestors really knew what they were talking about when they told us ‘waste not, want not.’
