Sitting Lounge by Hussein Hafez was a proposal for converting an open terrace at an Emirates palace in Abu Dhabi to a sitting lounge. They wanted to make use of this open area since in the United Arab Emirates, the weather for sitting outside is about a maximum of 4 months per year and the rest annual time is unbearable to sit outside.

The structure of walls remained the same as requested from the client... I added the windows to close the area... and regarding the tall height we needed to add wooden frame to strength the fixed glass.

I wanted to have Arabic touch with modern style that fit the existing atmosphere... I started from the pattern that I can use as semi partition between sittings so it will gives privacy and not closing the atmosphere in the same time. The vegetate pattern is the signature of Islamic era that you can see in the wooden partitions and same pattern was applied to the ceiling, walls and door's upper part. We can see it also in the carpet clearly. The furniture is cozy and formal sitting with a touch of leopard arm chairs to keep it spicy. as well a fancy and luxury chandeliers to give the high space a value.

I always try to get inspiration from everywhere... even in small details that could be not related to interior design... sometimes fashion, industrial, movies but mostly nature. in some project our design is limited to the client requirements so presenting your idea to match that requirements is the hardest spot. main inspiration was extended from the amazing palace itself. unique design of the Emirates palace is giving the rebirth of the golden ages of empires.

I personally find beauty in all neat and perfect design and mostly inspired by Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe, Tadao Ando, Anouska Hempel, Kelly Hoppen, Tom Dixon, Kara Mann. As Louis Khan said "even a brick wants to be something" I say to myself always keep pushing, surfing, learning, developing most of great inspiring people get famous after a long and hard work. so even if you do some bad designs anytime don't stop, catch a pencil and start sketching on plain paper.
