Ever wondered how a beautiful canvas or an artwork began its conception, it is in a form of a sketch. A sketch is a rapidly executed freehand drawing that is not usually intended as a finished work. A sketch may serve as a record of something that the artist sees, it might develop an idea for later use or it might be used as a quick way of graphically demonstrating an image, idea or principle. Scroll through the sketch arts and enjoy!

This set shows a collection of ideation sketches from different design projects in the medical, packaging, transportation and consumer products area.

These sketches are usually used at the beginning of a project to quickly and efficiently gather various ideas and project directions. Sketch collages help to cluster similar
ideas and visually explore different directions. Some more refined sketches and renders are generally accomplished at a later stage of  a project to express certain formal characteristics, details or hint at colour and  finishing.

In general, most of the sketches were done with Sharpies (extra fine point), Prismacolor pens and Copic Markers (mostly neutral grey & accent colours). The collages were created in Photoshop and some textures, a background canvas and partially some light digital post-treatment was added.
