Today's feature is about a collection of drawing imagery pulled from Sam Mccafferty's personal sketchbooks over the last couple of years which varies from current and past project sketches through to his personal free-time work. Let us take a look at his collection and enjoy!

It’s tagged with the number because I’m certain there will be more sketchbooks from me, it’s what I love to do and the response as been really positive. Hopefully I will upload another soon.

I’m always producing sketches, it’s one of my favorite past times and an area where I can express my ideas best. I have a lot of drawings lying around that sometimes get overlooked in full projects so I created Sketchbook One to give others a look at them. Most of the sketches are transport based, from reality to slightly eccentric, as that is an area I focus on and am hugely passionate about.

Like I said, it’s one of my favorite things to do and something I find hugely rewarding and entertaining at the best of times. It’s something i’ve done since I was young and I’m still learning and pushing to be better. The entire design process excites me, but concept sketching is the part I enjoy the most.

Some of them are part of individual projects so the idea for the sketches came from wanting to test a certain aspect of the design. Others are just snippets of free time sketching so the idea inspiration is hazy, just the first things that came into my mind.

Most of the drawing is associated with a particular project of mine so there were individual challenges tied to them and often I was trying to solve design issues through sketching. These challenges go much deeper than the sketchbook format I’ve used here, where the focus is mainly penmanship. You can see more on the projects and their related challenges in some of my other Behance works. Some of them are doodles without a specific direction - no pressure, no challenges, just the pen and a small idea (and maybe coffee).

Often these are just a small snapshot of a wider body of work, the most relevant ones or the ones that gave me direction in a project. Every sketch tests an idea in some way, so I guess they are revisions of each other.
