Sascha Bente's is a branding for artist Sonja Kreuzburg. Sonja Kreuzburg works multidisciplinary as a stylist, designer and editor in a kind of commercial fashion field. At the time her business began to gain success she asked Sonja Kreuzburg to develop a visual identity for her brand. The task was to create a logo-design, business cards, a greeting card and a redesign of her website. They had a quite nice workflow. When he came up with the visual concept he preferred, she immediately liked it and started designing the cards and website.

Sonja's visuals are always colorful and bold. So I wanted to create something representative. A design as diverse as her work. At the same time it was important not to get too eccentric and bright. I didn't define a certain corporate color-scheme but used a holographic foil instead. So we could show nearly every color existing (at a right angle). Furthermore I liked the kind of glamorous effect of the foil. Her Logo consists of her name’s initials S and K. Combined to a cryptic symbol those two letters reminded us of a pair of scissors – her most used tool as a fashion stylist and designer.

There is no certain inspiration for this one project. I guess I get inspired all the time by consuming a lot of visual stuff online, in books or at exhibitions I attend. As a permanent side project, I take a lot of photos – mostly random arrangements I find in my environment – all with a focus on surfaces. Similar to the Sonja-Job: I concentrated on the physical and visual surface.

It’s difficult to describe your own style. I like funny stuff, playful visuals and images with a twist. Maybe I am still that graffiti-kid from 10 years ago. At the same time I like to imply this kind of humorous approach into serious and clean design works which communicate accurately. I like designers who know how to break rules and designers who create them. In my work I try to create a balance between both of those cases.

I am not really an advice-giving person. But if you happen to be in Berlin, try the pizza at De Noantri, it’s the best in town!

About Sascha Bente

Sascha Bente grew up in Hannover (Germany) as a typical graffiti-kid he developed a love for letters, which was the reason for his later studies in visual communication at the local art school. After a short residence in Munich he graduated in 2012 and moved to Berlin because he already started some freelance projects and thought the city would be the perfect environment for the idea he had of his work. Since then he was hired by several studios and agencies as a freelance art director and founded his own studio in Berlin Kreuzberg. See more of his works on Behance.
