Fredy Santiago's project was specially for an art show about the Storm trooper helmet held in Downton LA. The art show was put together by Lucas Arts, Disney, and Neff. The show was curated with 300 artists, in which some of them where from Lucas films, Pixar, Disney, and Neff. The artist had the power to interpret the iconic helmet into their own version with its own personal style.

My helmet was a collage of things that I was exploring at the time, before I started my piece, I imagined a colorful helmet with colors from my own palette and something cartoony and inviting. I am a big fan of Designer Toys, I did study what makes them look amazing and how they can stand by themselves, that was one of the main aesthetic inspirations for this project, then I borrowed those elements and gave my own take on it.

I designed a helmet that also showcased elements and inspirations of my work, I am heavily inspired by the animated movies that Disney did back in the 20th Century, I enjoy the colors and character design from that era, I love how cohesive everything is, that is an element that I am seeking in my work. I was grateful to be part of that show and such an honor to showcase with people who gave me the motivation to do what I am doing from a young age.

One piece of advice to artists / aspiring artists is that become best friends with their sketchbook, and always keep learning, travel a lot even if it is to a part of town that you have never been in, and as far as being an artist don't rush and enjoy the ride, everyone has a different path.
