This is my second about Star Wars. I like simple and minimal stuff and wanted to have something minimal to decorate my room. I started searching art on the web, but couldn't find exactly what I wanted. Decided I had to do it my self. I first created 4 icons in a row, but forgot about them and they were but a former project for about 6 months. Then, after talking to some students that I was teaching about flat design, remember to show them, the 4 icons I had done. They love it and encouraged me to do some more. That was the excuse that I was searching to end the project. I launch the first classic set one year ago and now I've launched another set about the characters that might be in the next movie, Star - The Force Awakens. For obvious reasons, I called the project: The Flat Awakens.

Flat design is something that I like. It's simple forms amaze me. I browsed through the internet to understand how they did it. Saw a lot of examples and I just thought that I might have the skills to interpret something as pop-culture-based as Star Wars characters. I wanted to give them some tridimensional looks, so I gave them shadows. I confess, I know nothing about printing or colours, so, upon the time I had to print the posters it was a nightmare, cause I had lost so many hours picking the right background colours for the characters, that I wasn't about to let my project die once it gone out of the screens. I searched and searched. Went to numerous graphic stores and finally, out of the blue, a friend recommended me a small shop. Spot on. They had a gicclée printer and the colours turned out amazing!

I guess Star Wars has always been under my skin and I'm always opened to start new personal projects. I guess my inspiration would be my desire to have a colourful poster and the simplicity of flat design. My style is definitely a minimal one. All those minimal design inspire me to want to create simple ideas or minimalistic designs. I guess, Apple, Helvetica, Instrmnt, Braun, Muji and many more that I don't know the names or I don't remember.

Don't postpone your ideas. If you have an idea do it yourself, even if no one else believes in it. But, if you have an idea, make sure it's unique or, at least, that it has something that makes it special.

Stormtrooper is my favourite design character. I find those helmets so perfectly symmetric that it makes me want one to decorate my walls.
Han Solo on the other side, is my favourite acting character. You got love that manly-goofy-no-good mercenary. He might not know how to swing a lightsaber, but has a badass spaceship and some freaking flying skills.
