Botanical Illustrations ~ A Watercolour Classic

There is something eternal to botanical illustrations, which has always fascinated me. Though Georgia O'Keeffe once said, "I hate flowers – I paint them because they're cheaper than models and they don't move", I personally love flowers and find them challenging to paint, because they vanish so quickly.

Painterly Abstract by Mei Tan

Mei Tan's project centres around a series of textile prints inspired by the abstract art trend, which was getting increasingly popular and graced the catwalk of several renown designers in previous seasons. She wanted to create textile prints stemmed from that inspiration. Prints that are wearable for adults, yet are fun, playful and have a unique aesthetic that stands out from many other commercial prints typically seen in stores.

Heart of Darkness by Nick Liefhebber

The Hortus was founded as a medicinal garden by the mayor of Amsterdam to save the town from a new plague epidemic. It has inspired and helped many people since.This series of risograph prints explores different views and elements found in the botanical garden, both in form and subject. These are printed at Extrapool in exclusive colours (lavender, gold, salmon, warm red and glaucous) including an A2 sized print.
