The Fish Market is a West Coast fish house and seafood restaurant serving an excellent selection of fresh fish, sushi and seafood throughout California. The restaurants’ original décor and vintage photos, alongside rich wood paneling and flooring are meant to provide a warm, comfortable and genuine environment for our guests. This branding project is to help update the look and feel of the restaurant. Vibrant colors and witty graphics are made for a refreshing presence.

I've been to the restaurant several times and I really love their food and service. The restaurant also has unique decor and they have amazing view by the water. These are the things that inspired me to redo some of their collateral pieces. I was inspired by the decor of the restaurant specially the mural of fishes. I tried to mimic the look by using silhouette and simple shapes for the cover, pins, shirts and business cards. The biggest challenge for me was making sure to make everything consistent. I've done that by strictly using the colors.

About Micael

Micael Butial is a passionate designer who studied Graphic and Web Design at The Art Institute of California - San Francisco. He works as a Graphic Designer at the Gymboree Corporation in San Francisco. Micael grew up in the Philippines and started painting portraits at a young age. After moving to the United States, he continued painting at a local theme park and then decided to pursue a career in the design industry. Micael’s top skills are typography, branding, and illustration. In early 2014, Micael won an award and scholarship from the Hyatt Hotels and Resorts for a design that is featured on their Canvas Merlot Wine. His works have been featured in The Dieline, AIGA Members Portfolio, Serifs & Sans, and in the CSS Design Awards. You can find more of his works on his Behance profile.
