Canada based illustrator Marie Bergeron has caught the hype. The hype that is The Star Wars: The Force Awakens aka the most awaited Star Wars film for years. The movie was set three decades after the defeat of the Galactic Empire, a new threat arises. The First Order attempts to rule the galaxy and only a ragtag group of heroes can stop them, along with the help of the Resistance.

It is pretty much the idea of creating something we get all hype about. Including myself. It started with a quick sketch to get the composition lay down. Originally, the basic idea was to enlarge Kylo Ren as a true nemesis. Looking down at what awaken. The Millennium Falcon also felt important in the storytelling, and needed to be included but not forced...which was the case at first. With time, and a lot of retouching, it soon got into the composition I was looking for.

The inspiration... is the Star Wars of course, including the originals. And as always, great artist/designers/illustrators who I follow here and there. Olly Moss, Sam Spratt, Matt Taylor, Pat Perry etc. The best advice I can give is be true to yourself. Don't give up. Every artists fails, you will too. Accept it. Move on, and continue your work. If it's your passion, then don't let it go.

  1. I absolutely love the composition of this and the focus that was given to Kylo Ren (a character that I actually loved a lot more than I was expecting to)! I also love that the artist decided to add in the Millennium Falcon - it's definitely deserving of a spot in this really fantastic piece of art!
