Today we feature a work that an artist created illustrating her birthplace in the Mediterranean - Ceuta, Spain. Sara Maese is a Spanish illustrator and graphic designer who is now based in Netherlands. Read on and enjoy!

Ceuta is a small Spanish city placed in the north of Africa. It has four different cultures: the Christian, the Arabic, the Indian and the Jewish; the city is a strange mix of all of them.

At this project I wanted to make a tribute to my home using different symbols that are very characteristic of the city, like the chicken’s heart sandwich, some monuments like the Hercules, the moroccan tea, the mackerel, the “volaores” (dry fish), Saint Daniel (patron saint of the city), etc.
