The Yellow Bedroom & Bathroom by Zinaida Baklanova
Zinaida Baklanova's main idea was to create a simple and clear space which will be a representation of combination of bathroom and bedroom in one area. The major point was a creation of a room which would be full of fresh air. Zinaida tried to create the 'first breath' effect when you wake up early and breath deeply. Each morning starts there, that's why it's critically important to build a bright, simple and fresh space.
The bathroom is a monochrome background for main structure of the bedroom. It was like a challenge for me, because it was really difficult to convince the client not separate the spaces of the rooms. There is only glass wall which is quiet reminder of double effect of air and classy metal.

I wanted to underline the idea of recovering materials. I think that sometimes it's necessary to change something in your environment. In this interior it's a wall paining recovering design. In bedroom, there are bright-colored wooden panels. I used the wall painting with magnetic covering. It provides wide surfaces of walls for creativity of clients in small apartments. The combination of classical and contemporary patterns is a representation of clients way of life - habits of the past and interests of present.

My major challenge was a finding of balance between past and present. I think that the base of this interior is very graphic. Wallpapers in bedroom, ceramic tiles in bathroom, rhythm of wooden wall panels and flooring. However, the bed and bedside table add the 'soft effect' in interior.

Lighting is an additional point in interior design. In my opinion, it should underline functional zones and interior design in common. Moreover, sometimes it could be like form or colorful accents like in this interior. Yellow table light is a small reminder about lovely summertime. The garland on the wall is just a form accent and a decorative layer of lighting systems. Actually in each interior design project I try to create at any rate 4 lighting system layers. There are floor lights (decorative), table lights (working), wall lights (additional) and ceiling as basic one.

What's about the choice of colors. It was actually the easiest point of all process. In my opinion, the azure and yellow colors are brightest of all which represent the idea of simplicity of morning mood.
