A lot of time tracking app is available on the market, but Web Designer/Interaction Designer -Julien Philipp wanted to create a time tracking app that is visually pleasing and something that would meet all the freelancer's needs.

The focus of the timesquare time tracking app is clearly a minimal interaction concept with a beautiful design for people working in the creative industry. For the app is designed to work for people of the creative industry we looked at modern design esthetics to make the app as beautiful as possible for modern digital people. We wanted to create something new, so this is why we did not stick to much on basic iOS design patterns. Timesquare had to be fascinating, it had to be beautiful.

We had the need to track our time and wanted to do this on our smartphones. The other time tracking apps out there seemed for us either enormously ugly or quiet expensive. We challenged the status quo. Make apps which fit perfectly on its target groups. We have a minimal interaction principle. You open the app, the timer starts running automatically, you close the app. There is no setup of the time you are tracking. Categorizing the tracked time comes later, when you are done working. We have not seen this kind of approach in any other app. Get rid of evitable defined patterns. Force yourself to make your work clearly user focused and nothing but user focused.
